I just bought a home theater in a box system from Sony HT-DDW-750. It has a receiver STR-K750P and 5 speakers plus a sub, with 575w power.

I cannot hear a movie on DVD or on digital cable unless my volume setting is at 45. The maximum volume setting is 70.
Is this normal?
My room is small, the settings for speakers are small (micro)
and distances are center 6ft, left& right 7ft, surround 3ft

Do you think this piece is defective?

Your replies are appreciated

Is 45 at a moderate volume? If so, sounds normal to me. I demo'ed last years model, the ddw-740 and found it couldn't go very loud. Most buget HTIB don't go very loud.

I have the same setup and "normal" listening is in the 30's

are you sure all your plugs are in
also, i listen to most everything in PLII MOVIE mode

and this system can get fairly loud
loud enoug for "party music"

only complaint is the sub
for music it simply is not on par with what I am use to
