It seems that Brian Cheney's line is finally getting some recognition.
    see this thread: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...hreadid=124648
These are great speakers and I suggest anyone considering a "higher end" speaker purchase, look closely at this line.

Of special merit is the Ribbon Monitor group and the Larger SUBWOOFER (nonpowered).
Very few speaker lines offer the combination of Home Theater Dynamics, Musical Nuance and Detail, at reasonable pricing.

Have you guys had a chance to hear the VMPS external subwoofers? As good as they probably are, do you guys feel that near full range response from the main channel speakers is something which people should find desireable, even when used with an external sub and provided that the speakers can be given some room to breathe? I have built-in powered woofers in my speakers, and the blend is totally seamless and the effect is really nice.

AnthonyC, correct me if I'm wrong but the VMPS Ribbon Monitor II speakers are unpowered, right?

What are you using to power them that is giving you better bass than your CS subs? What were you using to power them (the subs I mean)?

Steve WC, apparently those speakers you listed can easily compete with speakers priced many times higher.
VMPS has speakers which are much cheaper than those three you listed.
    Take a look:
