WOW! I just watched VIVA LAS VEGAS in HD. I was amazed! A guilty pleasure film for me....but in any case it virtually looked like 3D with the sharpness and clarity of all those 60's costumes and set designs!!! Great transfer Warners!! Let see more musicals!!!!

I'm still waiting for my copy of this movie and Jailhouse Rock from the Warner sale.

Mine shipped this morning, so I should have it in hand by the end of the week. It's always been my favorite Elvis title and looking forward to seeing it on BD.

I have been unable to find the two Elvis BDs anywhere. I looked at Best Buy; nothing. Circuit City; nothing.

Forgot about this one. I can't help but break out into my terrible Elvis singing whenever that title song plays. Since it looks so good how is the sound?

I'm amazed that so many people ordered this one over Jailhouse Rock. To me that's the real classic.

Yes, Jailhouse Rock is a classic, but Viva Las Vegas just has the right amount of Cheese Factor to make it a classic in its own right. And I love the song!

Sorry, but whenever I get a chance to watch a young Ann-Margret in High Def., I'm buying the disc.:) Furthermore, my older brother took me to the movies to watch this film almost 45 years ago and it instantly became my favorite Elvis film. Call it a boyhood crush.

By the way, I've ordered Jailhouse Rock too.

I've always said that Ann-Margret was Elvis' female equivalent, at least in terms of movies. Of course, she didn't have anything like his impact in the recording industry.

I found both of them locally last week and viewed Viva Las Vegas on a 128" 2:35 screen - and although the pj is "only" 720 I must be spoiled by the 1080 lcd tv I mostly watch (42") because overall the film just did not come across as HD in comparison to say Casino Royale which was readily apparent on the pj screen. I'm sure if I watched the SD version it would be obvious though. The sound was definitely an improvement.

Indeed, it is. I watched by JAILHOUSE ROCK and VIVA LAS VEGAS last night courtesy of the new HD-DVDs. The JAILHOUSE transfer is stunning in HD, and the audio is a remarkable improvement from the dull, flat mono we've always heard.

....but VIVA. I don't even have the words. It's kind of a miracle.

VIVA LAS VEGAS is an Elvis movie for people who aren't Elvis fans, but are into musicals. Ann-Margret was the only co-star he had who pulled focus away from Elvis, and their sexual chemistry burns up the screen. The reason why VIVA works as well as it does, is likely due to MGM veterans like producer Jack Cummings and director George Sidney. It's always been a favorite since I saw it as a toddler.

The new HD DVD presentation is JAW DROPPING. JAW DROPPING! The images are better than I ever thought 1960s Metrocolor could deliver, but this movie always had flat, dull, generic mono audio. The sound on the new HD releases is so astounding (they obviously went back to the master recording components) that you can't believe it's the same movie.

Too bad there aren't reviews, because HD enthusiasts need to support top-flight releases like this...or else it we will forever consigned to a multitude of recent garbage for teens. Get thee to a video store (or buy online) and purchase these great Elvis flix!

I am looking forward to watching both of these films this weekend. Two Elvis films...Does it get much better.:)

And very glad to hear that Warner did the releases proud.

WB hasn't even released cover shots for sites yet! And the dang thing has already been released. No reviews & they wonder why catalog titles don't sell.

Does anyone have a buy both & get a discount sale?
Or, would that add to sales & defeat the catalog titles don't sell mindset?

I don't think I have ever seen Viva Las Vegas. And I call myself an Elvis fan!

Looking forward to this and Jailhouse Rock, although King Creole is my favorite Elvis film. HOpe these are successful so that we will see it soon!

I will be ordering these momentarily!

I just got the review copies this week. Warner's is notoriously slow on getting these out to us. Adam G. had it late last week, then it came out to me. Most of the other studios beat street date by at least a week, but not Warners. I should have my BD review of VLV up by Friday.

I ordered my copy of Jailhouse from Warner's online store and over a month ago it hasn't even shipped yet. Talk about frustrating...
