Anyone know if any light guns exist that will work on widescreen 100hz sets? I've so missed light gun gaming action, and was always fond of Virtua Cop. Sadly I can't switch 100hz processing off on my model of television.

Dan, the G-CON2 will work on a range of 100Hz sets. It's just not guaranteed to do so. It works fine on my set, which is made by Phillips. A friend of mine has a 100Hz Sony, albeit an older model. The same gun works just fine on that one as well.
Time Crisis 2 has a "Progressive Calibration Mode" or something like that for 100Hz TV's. I'm told that there are no guarantees, though, which is why Sony put the disclaimer on the back of the package.
Apparently the way 100Hz TV's work differ from manufacturer to manufacturer. But you know that, I'm sure. ;)

Interesting. I have a 16:9 32" Sony WEGA which is a few years old now. I'll try and find out more of the G-CON 2 with this model type if I can. Thanks, Allan!

I forgot to mention that both sets are 16:9 but I haven't experimented with stretching the image or anything. I've always played in 4:3 - I'll dig the gun out and try the zoom modes if you're interested.

Dan,
I tested the gun in every zoom mode as well as the 16x9 and text zoom modes. They all work as they should. :D
The gun needed to be re-calibrated when I switched modes, but the hits registered precisely as they should, afterwards.
Now I'm hoping for a bit of 16x9 Virtua Cop action...*drool* :)
Looks like the G-CON2 isn't so bad after all. Prior to buying it I had trawled lots of messageboards to find out whether or not it would work with 16x9 TV's, but I never found a straight answer.
But it works for me.:emoji_thumbsup:

I take it this isn't the case for the old G-Con that I play Ghoul Panic with then? I can drag that round to yours Dan to test if you want.

Paul. Cant remember where i read it, but this is actually virtua cop 1 and 2 with enhanced graphics rather than a new game in the series. Just didnt want you to get your hopes up too high.

Andrew, I had heard it was a combination of cops 1 & 2, enhanced, but built around that new missions and extras...etc...etc. It's not as simple as Virtua Cop Redux I don't think.

Dan; my Sony widescreen is the previous non-Wega model, so I don't have any 100Hz issues to worry about. Using PS1 guns with the PS2 isn't a problem (though in this case I've not tested it) as the video connector is the same - in fact I'm using a PS1 S-Video cable, as the Sony brand one is labelled for both.
