Hello - Is there a rule for the amount of screen for the viewing distance? If one were to sit 10 feet from the TV, what's the maximum size screen? Is 50" too big? I'm thinking 42" will be too small. Thanks.

That calculator is designed more for film in theaters, not TV at home. I feel it recommends too large a screen unless you are exclusively watching HD sources.

I'd start at 2:1 distance:screen size (~60" screen at 10 feet), and try bigger/smaller from there. Personal preference plays a large role; go to the store and view at that distance with a variety of sources of different quality.

I think 50" is too small at 10 feet; I'd go for 57"-65".
