Received a reply from Denon Tech Support. They stated that using a video cable from the output on the AVR 3805 to the Samsung TV AV1 input should allow the OSD to be seen. They even gave me the page numbers in the manual which stated the same; but it did not work. Finally bought a S-video cable and hooked it from the monitor output on the AVR to the AV1 input on the TV. (After disconnecting the video cable). It worked perfectly.

Larry -- interestingly that's exactly what I see with my Denon 2802. The OSD is output to the S-vid even tho' the manual says it isn't. And while I have previously seen the OSD via a composite output to "monitor" something has turned it off there--I suspect something about the combination of inputs/outputs does that but it's a guess and no more.
