when i was browsing through ebay the other day, i stumbled upon a 6x magnification lens that allows you to convert any television into a projector. i was wondering if this works at all, and if so, what is the video quality like? if i did do this i would probably use a sony wega tv because i know a regular tube tv wouldnt look good at all if blown up to 150".

These magnification plans are basically scams. I haven't heard anyone who was pleased with the picture.

It's a fun Sunday afternoon project to do with your kid and an old 13" TV you pulled out of your attic, but you wouldn't actually want to watch movies on it.

I get spam e-mail about once a month from an outfit claiming this sort of thing--a "super projector" for about $25. Avoid.

Check out that auction though, they guy posts 'actual screenshots'
Here's one that he lists: http://www.myimax.com/images/ss21.jpg
You might recognize the theater, it's RAF's... and that's not even an actual screenshot of HIS theater. Look at how many of these things this guy sells though!

Perhaps RAF should notify Ebay about this matter. This is truly misleading.

These things have been around for decades, and the picture is truly horrible. This looks like a total scam to me.

If I were RAF I'd sue his ass from here to Tuesday. Not only is the guy illegaly using RAF's pic, but he's doing it to commit fraud

If you go down to the bottom, he also seems to have badly photoshopped something from a porn site in at a low opacity over a JP screenshot and called it "actual screenshot"

Total fraud, and the person that says it looks like their local IMAX must've been watching stuff shot in Super35 with the bulb turned down, because I can only imagine how horrible a 19" TV blown up to 120" must look

Okay, I just reported the listing to eBay. We'll see what they do about it.
