Video Card Suggestion (1 Viewer)

I just put together a new computer. AMD XP-M 2500+ overclocked to 3200+, Abit AN7 Mobo, 512MB DDR400 RAM, and my old video card, Geforce Ti4200. I would like to be able to play Doom 3 on at least the medium setting.

Do I need to upgrade my video card?

Best Buy has a sale this week on ATI 9800pro 128MB board for $179 after rebates. I also have a 10% off coupon which brings this card down to around $150. Will this card be sufficient?

That is the best bang for buck card right now. I have one in my A64-3200 system, and the performance in Far Cry is solidly in the medium settings at 1024x768 res. with a nice fast frame rate. Who knows what Doom3 will need until we have it though.

I don't mind running games at their medium settings. Is it safe to say that I will need to upgrade my Ti4200 in order to play Doom 3?

Yeah, you will probably want to upgrade from Ti4200.

Good bang for the buck at this point.

I've been watching the video card market because my Radeon 8500 is getting a little long in the tooth.
