Viacom buys Comedy Central stake from AOL
Viacom nows controls all of Comedy Central and is putting it under MTV Networks. It seems like the best thing for Comedy Central at this point, since Viacom has a strong strategy right now of synergizing its entertainment networks.
I bring this up in Software for a reason: I wonder what this means with South Park, and Comedy Central's other shows on DVD. Does this mean that Warner loses distribution rights on CC shows? Will Paramount take over? Does this mean we don't have to deal with anymore debacles like the one with the South Park 1st season commentaries? Will we get more DVD product like Strangers With Candy? I know things don't change overnight, but maybe changes are coming.
I won't be able to participate in the Warner chat tonight, so I hope somebody is able to bring this up, specifically if this means there will be any change to WHV's relationship with Comedy Central.
