I had the privilege of working with Roy back in 1969 when I produced an LP on the Apollo 11 moon landing which featured his narration.

I too was saddened at Mr. Neal's passing. He, along with ABC-TV's superb science and space reporter Jules Bergman, was the best of the best. Unlike today's reporters and correspondents who look at the space beat as something to be stuck with and who don't bother to do even the most basic research, Mr. Neal was remarkably knowledgeable about the space effort and balanced in his reporting.

In those days, just about all major news organizations had reporters permanently assigned to cover NASA. Now, not a single major news organization has a full-time space reporter.

Mr. Neal was among the last of a breed.
