I had requested an E.T. replacement cover on the DV-Depot forum just a few days ago, and today it was added to their list of available-to-purchase covers.
Those guys don't fool around or waste any time! Great site! [IMG]
They've added both a 2-disc and a 3-disc version of the E.T. cover. However, beware! ..... I noticed that the 3-disc version has a mistake in the text on the back. It says "two-disc" in one place. [IMG]
Perhaps a revised, corrected version will be uploaded later. I'm not sure.
    E.T. COVER LINK.
Nice cover, though, huh? [IMG] ........

nice but you cannot just buy the covers from that site you have to buy a dvd or some other product too.

they sent me an email saying something about postage isnt worth it so it must include other product.

always preffered the original artwork with ET's and Elliotts hands. They should have done some kind of a Annaversirey (cant spell) version of that. Why did they have to change the image for anyway. Same with Jurassic Park, the original artwork looked great with just the logo and black backgound. Now I have to look into a t-rex's mouth every time I want to watch it.

Buying cover art for DVD cases strikes me as a bit outrageous. While I agree that some of the cover art studios produce is quite simply retched, it's not like you're going to be hanging on your wall.

I'm surprised the producers of the E.T. art replacements can keep up with demand...given how much everybody seems to despise the E.T. original digi-pak. [IMG]

Is it legal for these people to come up with a cover and sell it over the net?

Spielberg/Universal own artwork rights not the original designer. I suspect that they will soon get a lawyers letter. This is essentially a bootleg cover.

As far as I know, the creators of the covers do not receive any compensation. Of course, maybe no one has ordered my Star Trek covers from the site.

Incidentally, I never gave permission for my covers to be offered for sale, and I have been assured that they will be coming down. I know that DV-Depot is not making any real profit on these, but I am nervous about any money changing hands when it involves someone elses copyrighted material.

Does this mean when dvdcoverart.com comes online under the "dv-depot.com presents: DVDCOVERART.com" banner, we're now going to have to pay for the covers there as well???

man. i dont even print these covers out a lot of the time, i just use the huge images as desktops.

Last I heard Matt at DVD Cover Art plans to offer at least a few free downloads a month. Maybe he should just offer a way to donate, so that it doesn't look like folks are paying for individual covers. I guess we will have to see how it all pans out. I know I would hate to lose the ability to download all those sweet covers.
