Davis DVD just reported that Versus, the very cool Hong Kong action flick, will street on July 29th. Here's the link, there's also some cool final specs on the Day of the Dead SE.

I was just repeating what Davis DVD said, guess I should have said something in the post. Oh well, I'm definitely looking forward to this one.

Now if we can only get Battle Royale...

I have wanted this for so long, whenever I am on ebay I always look for it, but its always around $25-30 shipped, not to mention that I am really nervous about getting DVDs off ebay

I got the R2 some time ago, and it was well worth it.

Travis:

Don't hold your breath. The likelihood of Battle Royale ever being released in R1 is slim, at best. If you have an all-region player, I would suggest getting either the R2 Tartan version, or the R3 Korean Director's Cut version.

Jeff:

Actually, my copy of Battle Royale (Cream DVD version) is R3. At least, I remember having to set my old region-free player to R3 to play it. With my Malata, it's kind of made me lazy about such things :b.

Yeah I'm going to give in one of these days and import Battle Royale. I just have a feeling we'll see it in ten years-more than likely not but I just have a feeling that a gutsy studio might pick it up. I think the only thing really holding BR back is Toei for charging so much for the rights but who knows.

Also found out they're making a sequel to Versus.

Does anyone know the differences between the three releases, besides extras? What I mean is that when they say director's cut does it mean that there will be more footage in the film or is it just a marketing ploy to differentiate it from the bare-bones disc?

^ yeah, I'm confused too. (cnl.com) Does the 2-disc special edition also have the director's cut? or is it the same as the non-director's cut one just with extra features?

EDIT: hmm...strange, stores like deepdiscountdvd.com and dvdsoon.com only list 2 versions, the director's cut and SE.

Woo Hoo! Superb movie. The differences that I see from the three versions are:
1. R-Rated movie with 2 commentaries
2. Dir. Cut of movie with 2 commentaries
3. Special Ed. is the Dir. Cut + second disc with Featurettes; "Making Of" Documentaries; Interviews; Trailers; "Nervous" (the side story mini-movie); More TBA...

Highly reccomended. Info from www.hkflix.com
