Has anybody else seen this commercial? It begins w/ a shot of a little girl in a dress running mixed w/ shots of New York all in black and white. It ends w/ a shot of the Statue of Liberty and the text "In tribute to those we lost..."

The song in the commercial is just a beautiful duet and it sounds very familiar. Anyone know this song and where it is from?

    Kudos to Verizon.

    Peace,

It's The Prayer by Celine Dion and Andrea Boccelli.
Very moving song. Played at my grandfather's funeral.

    -------------
I pray you'll be our eyes, and watch us where we go.
And help us to be wise in times when we don't know
Let this be our prayer, when we lose our way
Lead us to the place, guide us with your grace
To a place where we'll be safe
    La luce che tu hai
I pray we'll find your light
    nel cuore restera
and hold it in our hearts.
    a ricordarci che
When stars go out each night,
    eterna stella sei
    The light you have
I pray we'll find your light
    will be in the heart
and hold it in our hearts.
    to remember us that
When stars go out each night,
    you are eternal star
    Nella mia preghiera
    Let this be our prayer
    quanta fede c'e
    when shadows fill our day
    How much faith there's
    Let this be our prayer
    in my prayer
    when shadows fill our day
Lead us to a place, guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe
Sognamo un mondo senza piu violenza
un mondo di giustizia e di speranza
Ognuno dia la mano al suo vicino
    Simbolo di pace, di fraternita
We dream a world without violence
a world of justice and faith.
Everyone gives the hand to his neighbours
    Symbol of peace, of fraternity
    La forza che ci da
We ask that life be kind
    e il desiderio che
    and watch us from above
    ognuno trovi amor
We hope each soul will find
    intorno e dentro se
    another soul to love
    The force his gives us
We ask that life be kind
    is wish that
    and watch us from above
    everyone finds love
We hope each soul will find
    around and inside
    another soul to love
    Let this be our prayer
Let this be our prayer, just like every child
Need to find a place, guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe
Need to find a place, guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe
    E la fede che
    hai acceso in noi,
    sento che ci salvera
    It's the faith
    you light in us
I feel it will save us

Off topic, but did anyone happen to see the Discover channel tribute commercial for Elizabeth Wainon (sp?)? She apparently worked for Discover channel somehow and died on Flight 93 in PA. Absolutely touching commercial showing many pictures of her as a sister, daughter, friend, etc. A song by Jewel plays throughout.

I saw it during one of the many WTC programs last night on History channel and it brought a tear to my eye.

Saw this Verizon spot last nite.
The song was written by Carol Bayer Sager and David Foster and was nominated for an Academy in 1998 for Quest for Camelot. Never saw the movie but when I heard it the first time on the air back then I knew it was a great healing song. Always gives me chills when I hear it.

A search reveals it was also recently recorded by Celine Dion.

Score! That's it. Thanks so much guys! Larry, now I know where I've heard it before. I've never seen Quest for Camelot, but I always watch the Oscars. I now remember seeing Celine & Andrea perform it on the Academy Awards show that year.

Very cool. My mind is not what it used to be, but I'm glad I have the resources of the HTF.

    Peace,

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the version of The Prayer used in the Verizon commercial is the one by Josh Groban and Charlotte Church. This version is on Josh's CD, which is fabulous.

Some may remember that Bocelli wasn't available for the Academy Awards reheasal and Josh was asked to step in to sing Bocelli's part with Celine for that.

Any way you cut it, this is a beautiful song and both versions are terrific. Josh and Bocelli are both great, but Celine beats out Charlotte Church by a long shot, IMHO. Sure would like to hear a Josh and Celine version, but I love Bocelli, too.

At any rate, kudos to Verizon for a wonderful and meaningful tribute.

It would be even more meaningful if they didn't mention their name, or at least if they said "From the people at Verizon" in a plain font. Instead they choose to end it with their regular logo!

I hate these "tribute" ads. Give me a tribute without a logo in it, or give me a regular commercial. It just feels cheap otherwise.

This was definitely the best of the various 9/11 spots I saw.

According to Verizon's web site, the female vocalist is somebody by the name of Jewl Anguay, along with Josh Groban.

Not sure if anybody remembers, but Groban and Charlotte Church sang the same song (The Prayer) at the closing ceremonies of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

The Prayer is a unbelievable song.
I like Celine/Andrea's version the best by far.
