    hi,
i saw this dvd advertised in the best buy paper today. it's an anime title. i was wondering if anyone of you had seen this and what your opinion was on it. also what other anime titles might you compare this to.
i do enjoy some anime. my typical taste are titles like...ninja scroll, blood, the street fighter series, fist of the north star, ghost in the shell....etc
    thanks!
p.s fwiw, i really enjoyed "bllod", which was also a vampire themed title

I have Vampire Hunter D, and like it alot. It's very trippy in some parts. Well Vampire Hunter D is like Ninja Scroll in a way(in my opinion), which I have too. Vampire Hunter D is a great anime. I think it's a classic anime, along with Akira. Definately go for it, you won't be disappointed.

    Kevin-
PLEASE be aware that there are two movies:
    Vampire Hunter D and
    Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
that latter being the one in the advertisement you saw.
It is being discussed in this tread here:

To make it short: the one in the ad is the sequel,
and has MUCH better production values than its
popular predesessor. (I am a "production values"
snob, and don't like the look of most of the
original film, especially the blond girl's design.
VHD:B looks like it had a bigger
budget, and it is on my short list of anime titles
    to own.
There are informative links, DVD reviews, and so on in
    the other thread.

i don't know about bloodlust, but the original vhd dvd is terrible. although the story was pretty good, the picture was terrible. absolutely unwatchable in my opinion. everything was washed out.

I thought I saw some scenes of Vampire Hunter D: Bloodthirst on Starz. Let us know if it's blood thirst, I'd be interested in getting this title.

It's Bloodlust. It's been sitting in a can for about 2 years while a pipe dream of big-time distribution was chased after.
