Technically speaking, how does the v-compression work on Sony Wega TV's? Does it compress an anamorphic signal into a 4:3 frame? Just curious, I'm thinking about buying the 27".

It takes all the usable scan lines in the 4x3 frame and squeezes them into a 16x9 frame therefore adding extra scan lines to your 16x9 enhanced dvds which would be wasted in the black bars on top and bottom if the squeeze was not applied.

Basically it transforms your 4x3 tv into a 16x9 tv but with larger black bars on top and bottom.
