Im getting a Sony STR-DE995 but instead of using two back surround speakers I'd like to use one rear center speaker. Will the STR-DE995 allow me to use either the left or right back surround terminal and just have one speaker give me the sound that it would normally split between the 2 back surround speakers??

I'd rather go with this option for now until true 7.1 sound is a reality in DVD movies.

    thanks for the help [IMG]

Did you read your manual? Most 7ch receivers allow you to configure one or two rear centers to suit your taste and room requirements. I can't say that is always the case, but with Sony typically offering a high level of flexibility, I'd expect this would be the case.
