MAKE IT A DATE TO REMEMBER WITH THIS HOLIDAY SEASON'S BIGGEST COMEDY

    THE 40-YEAR-OLD VIRGIN

READY AND WILLING ON DVD DECEMBER 13, 2005
    FROM UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOME ENTERTAINMENT

Universal City, California, October 17, 2005 - The year's most over-the-top, below-the-belt comedy, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, is coming to DVD and VHS December 13, 2005 in a rated and unrated version featuring over 17 additional minutes of wildly hilarious footage filmed specifically for the DVD and not shown in theaters. The film, which has earned over $100 million at the box office, stars Steve Carell (Bruce Almighty, NBC's "The Office") as Andy Stitzer - a sweet-natured but middle-aged virgin who, through the well-meaning but misguided efforts of his co-workers, begins an unforgettable journey toward the goal of "getting lucky." The film features an outstanding ensemble cast including Catherine Keener (The Interpreter), Paul Rudd (Anchorman), Romany Malco (The Tuxedo), Seth Rogen (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy), Elizabeth Banks (Seabiscuit) and Leslie Mann (Orange County). Both versions of the DVD are loaded with tons of sidesplitting bonus features including uproarious outtakes and deleted scenes.. Available just in time for holiday gift giving from Universal Studios Home Entertainment, the DVD is priced at $29.98. Pre-order deadline is November 1, 2005.

The 40-Year-Old Virgin marks the feature directorial debut of Emmy award-winning producer-writer Judd Apatow, who produced the memorable hit comedies Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and Kicking & Screaming. Apatow is perhaps best recognized for his work on some of television's most acclaimed shows including "Freaks & Geeks", "The Larry Sanders Show," and "The Ben Stiller Show."

    * My dinner with Stormy: Actor/co-producer Seth Rogen has dinner with adult film star Stormy Daniels.
    * Andy's Fantasies, with commentary by director/co-writer Judd Apatow and actor/co-producer Seth Rogen.

    SYNOPSIS

Andy Stitzer (Steve Carell) is an amiable, middle-aged, retail employee with strong geek tendencies and a total lack of experience with the opposite sex. He's relatively unbothered by his chaste status, but it's a topic of great interest to his co-workers at the Big-Box electronics store where he works. They have big plans for Andy, and he begrudgingly joins their wildly funny plot to rescue him from his four-decade dry spell. Just when it seems like a lost cause, the unexpected happens: Andy falls in love...with a single mom (Catherine Keener) who has a "no sex" dating policy.

...and boys and girls, may I personally add,
that this is the funniest movie I have seen all year.

Far better than Wedding Crashers, cruder yet
more rewarding than any of the American Pie films.

Guaranteed: Most women will hate this film while guys
    will absolutely love it!

This gets my stamp of approval!

Great, so the theatrical version WON'T be available, except in foolscreen. I'm getting REALLY sick of these "Unrated, Extended, Extreme, Too Hot For Theaters, More Outrageous" editions. They included both versions of "American Wedding" on the same disc (except for the longer bachelor party, I otherwise prefer the theatrical cut) so why the hell can't they ALWAYS do that???

I loved this film, but I thought the theatrical version could have used some trimming down.

Did anyone else read this closely? The theatrical cut won't be in widescreen, but there WILL be bonus features that are ONLY on the theatrical cut? Thanks a lot Universal. You guys always make the best decisions.

I loved this movie and this would probably be the only time I might choose the R version because I'm apparently not the only one in thinking the theatrical was long enough. I'm a bit worried the unrated version is going to be too long and the pacing severely compromised. But I won't be buying fullscreen.

It looks like the only thing not on the unrated version is the 1970's Sex Ed Film. I guess it's better than dropping deleted scenes or a commentary.

I missed this one in the theaters but I love Apatow's TV stuff so I'm looking forward to picking it up. [IMG]

I agree with Ron--I laughed so hard several times my head hurt. I looked over at my wife, and the movie couldn't have been over fast enough for her.

I'm definitely getting this. I saw it twice at the theater, and would gladly see it a 3rd time. I agree with Ron 100%. This is bar none the funniest comedy this year. Obviously, I'll be picking up the unrated version, but I think those who prefer the theatrical cut are indeed getting screwed. Something tells me though that whatever footage didn't make the theatrical version is going to be hysterical. Just a hunch. Either way, I can't wait to own this one.

My wife loved this as much as I did. Guess I'm just lucky.

My girlfriend laughed as much as I did in this one too, so I guess I'm lucky also.

By far the funniest movie this year.
