That would be my guess. I think the previous UHD looks good.

Yeah it looks good, but kind of shady to sell the exact same movie disc for access to a new documentary. Would have been nice if you could have sent away for the new disc if you bought the old release which isn’t even that old. Also would have been nice if this new release came with an offer where you could send away for a Blu Ray copy of the 3D version

...but doesn't show the crabs coming out of the mouth of the girl's remains who was the first victim of the stark attacks which I remember quite vividly due to the graphic nature of the scene and being quite young at the time. So I am very disappointed that this new 4k remaster is not basically the film I saw 50 years ago. Does anyone have any information thanks.
It's a testament to the power of the scene but you're misremembering the movie.

Also heard that NBC will be airing the movie next Friday night (6/20/2025) from 7-10 PM CT as part of its 50th Anniversary with a special intro by Spielberg himself...http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news/2025/06/12/nbc-commemorates-the-50th-anniversary-of-jaws-in-three-hour-airing-with-a-special-introduction-from-director-steven-spielberg-on-friday-june-20-at-8-pm-et-pt-889415/20250612nbc02/

Will it be OAR and uncut? It will obviously have commercials if it’s a 3 hour time slot. Not sure what’s the point of watching on NBC

I have just purchased the 4k 50th anniversary edition of Jaws and while I am happy with the quality it isn't the print of the film I saw in the cinema here in the UK in 1975 it supposedly contain all the deleted scenes in the bonus features but doesn't show the crabs coming out of the mouth of the girl's remains who was the first victim of the stark attacks which I remember quite vividly due to the graphic nature of the scene and being quite young at the time. You’re thinking of Jaws III where the body of the missing park worker turns up and Dennis Quaid is identifying the body (one of the few parts of that movie that was realistically gruesome)

I'll watch the Spielberg intro (even though I'm sure it'll just be a standard quickie "I can't believe I made this movie 50 years ago..." kind of thing) and probably the opening scene with Chrissie.

It's short and is currently playing on Peacock.

You’re remembering wrong. There was never such scene in Jaws.

Memories are tricky thing. They often betray us.

I remember one guy here INSISTING Star Wars was originally released in 1977 with Chapter IV in the title. 🤪

sorry no I m not misremembering I was not alone in remembering the scene you saw clearly the girls head open mouth and crabs coming out of it also showed the arm that was left by the shark and crabs crawling over that in the sand , the only answer again as I have said will other films in must have only been in the United Kingdom/European print.

IMDB says there's an alternate scene of the discovery of Chrissy's remains. Been a long time since I've watched, so I'm not sure of the details of the alternate scene:

Further cut scenes available on the DVD releases include an alternate discovery of Chrissie's remains, with Brody forcing a reluctant Cassidy to identify her,....

That would be strange since the original UK print I saw about 10 years ago (dye-transfer Technicolor) was missing several seconds of Quint's demise due to censor cuts. So it would be surprising that an even more gruesome sequence wound up in the print you saw.

Sorry but you are definitely mistaken. No such scene was ever filmed for Jaws. After 50 years don’t you think this scene would have come to light and be well known?

No offense but as I mentioned, these mistaken memories happens all the time.

The alternate scene of discovering Chrissy’s remains doesn’t show anything additional of her remains, just the camera pointed directly at Brody and Cassidy where there’s dialogue and their reactions.

Exactly. Which is further proof the above imagined scene doesn’t exist.
