FEATURING SIX UNFORGETTABLE ALFRED HITCHCOCK FILMS

AVAILABLE ON NOVEMBER 26, 2024

AND PACKED WITH OVER 15 HOURS OF BONUS FEATURES

Universal City, California, October 15, 2024 –
From one of the most influential figures in the history of cinema comes the all-new ALFRED HITCHCOCK: THE ICONIC FILM COLLECTION, releasing on 4K Ultra HD disc and Digital on November 26, 2024 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. This must-own collection consists of some of the most unforgettable and groundbreaking films of all time including Rear Window, To Catch a Thief, Vertigo, North By Northwest, Psycho, and The Birds.

In partnership with Warner Bros. and Paramount Home Entertainment, the collection features the newly released 4K Ultra HD remasters of North by Northwest and To Catch a Thief. It’s the very first time you can own all six films together on 4K Ultra HD disc and includes digital codes of each film.

The premium book style-packaging consists of rare photos, bios, trivia, and original cover art by renowned artist Tristan Eaton. It features over 15 hours of revealing bonus features including Psycho Uncut (the extended version of the movie originally seen in theaters), audio interviews with Alfred Hitchcock, behind-the-scenes featurettes, rare production photographs, creative storyboards, insightful feature commentaries, and so much more! It is limited-edition item and will be available to purchase at participating retailers including Amazon and GRUV.

Starring James Stewart and Grace Kelly, Rear Window is Alfred Hitchcock’s voyeuristic masterpiece about a photographer who develops an obsession after thinking he witnessed a neighbor’s murder. To Catch a Thief, courtesy of Paramount Pictures, stars Cary Grant along with Grace Kelly and centers on a reformed jewel thief in the French Riviera. Considered one of Hitchcock’s greatest cinematic achievements, Vertigo stars James Stewart and Kim Novak in a dizzying web of mistaken identity, passion and murder. North by Northwest, courtesy of Warner Bros., stars Cary Grant alongside Eva Marie Saint as a man on the run who is abducted and framed for murder, and it's considered one of Hitchcock’s most visually stunning films. Perhaps regarded as Hitchcock’s most well-known film, Psycho stars Janet Leigh and Anthony Perkins as a mild-mannered motel manager who turns out to be not what he seems. Finally, Hitchcock’s one true “monster” movie, The Birds, stars Tippi Hedren as she fights to survive an unexplainable attack by birds in a quiet seaside town.

So...a US version of the previous European (German) announcement?
Same films, and artwork, but very different packaging. This is a coffee table style book, similar to the one Universal did for their Universal Monsters collection.

Scraping the bottom of the barrel at this point when it comes to releases like this.

What's the point of Universal releasing WB's and Paramount's 4K NXNW and Thief?

I saw this set earlier today on the GRUV site, so I figured this is for Region A. What I found interesting is Warner and Paramount collaborated with Universal for their new 4K Hitchcock titles.

I like the artwork but I already have the Universal titles on 4K and have To Catch A Thief on the way and North by Northwest pre-ordered. It would be cool to check out the book.

Because these are considered his best, and and most popular films. It's not the first time a Hitchcock collection included films from other studios. It was done on BD as well.

It's no surprise for North by Northwest, at least. Warner and Universal are collaborating on the SDS distribution outfit, and Universal had previously licensed North by Northwest from Warner for their Hitchcock Ultimate Collection BD set.

For someone like me, without those, to be able to get them in one place.

I wish we could get a 15 film collection to get rid of this:

I waffled on getting that at the time, as I had the equivalent DVD set in a nice fuzzy box. Good thing I waited, as I ended up upgrading to this:

AH UC.jpg

which also included episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents that Hitch directed.

I’m really glad all these Hitchcock titles are being released in UHD and I’m happy to keep the earlier BD sets. Plus it will be necessary to keep DVD copies of the very early titles from England.

Sorry but at $174 currently on Amazon or $130 at GRUV (less 20% if you can get code to work) this is an absurd release. I guess you are paying for the packaging because the individual films, including the 4K films released in 2024 are much cheaper individually or as a part of a set. The films included are Volume 1 of the 4K Universal Hitchcock set plus "North By Northwest" and "To Catch A Thief." Extras, in my opinion, should be added value, not the thing that is driving up the price. At the end of the day it should be about the best presentation of the movies and not glossy pictures, new artwork, and expert commentary much as these are appreciated.

I really don't know how many more ways Uni can rape the Hitchcock legacy for extra coin while it continues to pay its monumental holdings little mind elsewhere. I mean, can we just get remastered Blu's of Charade, Tammy and the Bachelor, Mirage, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, The Paper, House Sitter, and many others that need a little TLC?

Let's see: Hitch' on Blu...there was the Masterpiece Collection and its individually packaged discs. Then there was the 'ultimate collection', followed by the 'essentials' and then the 'house of Hitchcock' and all the endlessly repackaged singles, and then, the 3, 4K classic collections and all of their singles.

Is there anyone at this point who doesn't already own at least one copy of the Psycho, Birds, Vertigo and Rear Window that would be willing to drop coin again, just for re-re-re-repackaging and the ability to own North by Northwest and To Catch a Thief as part of this set for around $200 when you can just spend approximately $60 for those two MIA titles and just add them to what you already own?

Universal rape the Hitchcock legacy? Please. They’ve produced, presumably at considerable expense, beautiful 4K versions of all 14 titles they control, including those not likely to be crowd pleasers. Movie lovers will enjoy the fruits of their work for many years to come. But I guess they haven’t done much with The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, so . . . .
