Can I use my Direct TV card in another Direct TV receiver? I want to borrow a friend's receiver for the weekend (its one of the HDTV ones) but he will not let me use it with his card in it. I have the dish that points to all three sat's already installed so I can receive the local channels. Can I use it to receive the free HDTV chanel (#199 I think)?

    Thanks,

Jeff, I don't believe it will work. The serial number for the card is matched to the serial number of the box. If you swap cards, you'll just get a message to call directtv. [IMG]

When you activate your DirecTV service, it married the card to your receiver so you can't just stick your card into his receiver. Why won't your friend let you use his card? Are you prone to ordering up a bunch of porn/PPV? [IMG]
