This is my first post here and I just wanted to say that it is great to be able to finally get questions answered and get opinions from other enthusiasts rather than just the salesperson. I am looking to upgrade my receiver this summer to bring some more depth, clarity, and separation to my home theater. Mirages all around, Om-10's L/R, C2 center, R2 rears and I want to make them sing, mostly movies (my Technics does not cut it any more). My budget is $2000-$3000 Canadian ($1500 Max U.S.). I have looked at denon 3802, integra 7.2, onkyo 787. These prices would leave me enough $ to add a 2 channel amp (parasound HCA-1000). Should I go with this combo or spend extra on the just the AVR (4802, 8.2, 898)?

Thanks a lot - Grahame Brown

Hi Grahame. I don't know how long you have been lurking but have you cheked out the Outlaw 950 thread?
I too am from Canada and am looking to spend similar coin. So far in our price range it looks like the Outlaw for about 1500.00 plus shipping from the US or the Rotel 1066 which I can get in Saskatoon for 1950.00 + tax. that would leave you close to $1000.00 for a used 5 channel amp. I can't really recomend any receivers as I have been focused on separates. IMO if you have the chance to move to separates it's probably worth doing so. ;)
