Heres my situation, I upgraded my 1.2 Athlon to a 2000+ Athlon XP. I have a gigabyte GA-7VT600 MoBo, I have recently flashed the BIOS to the latest version using the @BIOS utility from gigabyte. When I open up system under the control panel, in the general tab It still says its a 1.2 Athlon. Why is this? Is it actually running at the 2000+ speed and just doesn't say that? Do I have to do a fresh install of the OS so that it's configured right? I didn't think this was like installing a new MoBo (at least in some cases) that you have to do a fresh OS install because the OS on the hard drive does not recognize the MoBo. Thanks.
