Upgrade Yamaha RXA700 (1 Viewer)

Hi Guys,

Ive had a RXA700 for about 6 years and its been working just fine. It currently powers 2 energy rc70, a cb20 and cc10. I have a sub, but I keep it off because I live in apartment.

For the most part it works fine, but the issue is that I have a 4k tv and cant use it for switching and for that reason, I cant use the on-screeen display. Making it more complicated I have a closed media console and use a harmony remote. Right now, as I have it setup, I basically have an input I have to switch to in order to adjust settings.

So, secondary features I would be interested in are the streaming services, wifi, etc.

In the end, Id like my onscreen display back and something capable of 4k passthrough.

Secondarily, Im looking to upgrade my center and bookshelf, I like the rc70's I find the CC and CB's to be a little muddy with dialogue.

Ive enjoyed the Yammy sound for the most part. I tend to enjoy a spatial soundstage and neutral curve with a little emphasis on mid and treble.

Ive been thinking about a denon 3300 or 3400, and Ive heard good things about sony str-dn1080. Open to thoughts and suggestions? Once concern with the denon is that it tends towards a warmer and less defined sound profile, or at least used to.

I have a record player, preamp isnt essential as I have one, and I use it for streaming audio, lossless files, TV and hometheater.

If you enjoy the Yamaha sound then why don't you stick with Yamaha receivers like the 870 or 770?

Im not opposed to sticking with Yamaha but I've read Audyssey XT32 outperforms Ypao, also the denon feature-set is more robust. I've also read about some reliability issues on the newer yamahas.

I recently replaced my old Yamaha RX-V995 with the STR-DN1080 and I am EXTREMELY happy with it.
