Hello! I have about $400 (b'day gift from wife) to spare and need suggestions on how to spend it. I could either upgrade my current receiver (Pioneer VSX-509). Or, upgrade my subwoofer from the current Yamaha YST107 (the very basic 100W peak one). The replacements I have in mind are Pio 1014 and SVS PB10. I have Energy C series speakers (C7 fronts, C-C1, C-R1s).

    Thanks [IMG]

I think upgrading the sub is the most HT bang for your buck.

The 1014TX is a great receiver and an amazing value but i think the PB10 would make a much greater impact, especially if the 509 is decoding everything you need it to.

BTW, this is a very informative forum... it's funny how I came across this a few months ago when I got sick of my bose HT system and googled "better than bose" [IMG]

I recently bought a new PB12Plus/2 and I can't get enough. I might tear down my house before I do get enough. . .

    Get the sub. . .

I'd go with a SVS sub.

I like this forum because its one of the few where its full of mature helpful people. No people just yelling at eachother for no reason.

And just for good measure. UPGRADE THE SUB :p)
