    Hi,

I saw a DENON AVR 4800 on sale today for $900 CAD and I was wondering if it would be wise to buy this as opposed to get something in the $1000 CAD eg. Denon 2805 that has PL II, Pioneer Elite entry level...

I was told that sound wise I will have a bigger improvement with going with this "higher model" denon even though it's a year 2000 product.

BTW I have B&W 601 series as my front/center speakers.
I wonder if I would experience a big sound difference with a new receiver.

    Any expert advice?

Going from the 1601 to the 4800 will be a HUGE step up, and should be more than a noticable improvement. It would still be a noticable step up from the 2805. If you don't absolutely have to have PLII, I would definitely go with the 4800.

The 48xx series is big jump even from the 38xx series. I have to endorse the 4800 because I love my 4802 so much. [IMG]
