The upgrade bug has finally hit me after living with a HTiB for to many years...To make things short and sweet i am mostly looking for opions on the two different B&W setups.

Setup 1:
Front: DM603 s3
Center LCR600 s3
Surround: DM601 s3
Price: $1950

Setup 2:
Front: DM602 5 s3
Center: LCR60 s3
Surround: DM601 s3
Price: $1500

Either setup is going to be paried with a svs pb12 and powered by a pioneer 1014. Opinions i am mostly looking for are 1)is there a noticable sound difference between these setups 2)is the pioneer 1014 enough to power these speakers.

Thanks in advance, Dennis

Setup #1 would get my vote.I have the 603s3 w/lcr600 powered with rotel rsx1056.I'm presently waiting to upgrade my surrounds to the 601s3.The 603s3's are fantastic in my opinion especially compared to the 602.5's.I beleive the 602s3's would even be better than the 602.5's.Any how they are great speakers.Sorry but cant comment on the pion 1014 never hd it but my understanding is its a pretty good budget receiver.good luck

Dennis my vote is for Setup#1 too.

My set up is
Front: DM604
Center LCR600
Surround: DM602

They sound too good. Yes 602s are pretty big for surround but they genrate great detail. When listening to music in 2 channel of 5 channel they sound great brings out every detail. You will defnintely beneift with having 603s for your fronts than just 602s becuase of the range that 603 covers. I run mine with HK7200 so I cannot comment on the Pioneer. I have heard a similar setup with Marantz and Denon they sounded pretty good too.

My vote goes with the 2's paired up with the 600 up front and center or if you have the $$? then definitely..... Front: DM604
Center LCR600
Surround: DM602

My vote would be setup #1.

My setup is
front: DM604
center: LRC600
surround: DM602
All series 2, I've had them for awhile, but they still sound good. When I was auditioning these speakers (they let me bring them home) I listened with the 602s as fronts as well and I found I got better sound mixing with my sub (SVS CS-Ultra) with the 603/604s. The only reason I got 604s instead of 603s at the time was that the dealer was out of stock on the 603s and I am very impatient.:)

I am driving mine with a outlaw 755 amp, and have never heard a 1014, so I can't comment on that part.

My setup
mains 601 S3
center LCR60 S3
Surround 601 S3
Boston Sub

I run them off a Pioneer 1014 and am very happy. The 1014 has a Mosfet amplifier and an advertised 110 Watts x7 The 1014 is an excellent receiver for the price and can outperform some more expensive receivers

I would go for setup #1

I would go with setup #1. Most around here seem to agree that the LCR600 is well worth the money above the LCR60.

My setup is also more similar to #1:

Fronts: 604 S2
Surrounds: 602 S2
center: LCR6 S2

If you will be listening to much music on the system, then the 603/604's are worth the money for the fronts, IMO. If this is going to be strictly for movies, though, I would probably just go for the 602's up front.

Setup #1 is definitely better. The 602.5 is basically the same as a 601, just a larger enclosure. A better version of setup #2 would be 602's for your mains and a LCR600 center. I guess that wouldn't be much different from setup #1, but my point is if you have to sacrifice something, go down to the 602's and keep the big center. I can't imagine you'd need the extra bass of the 603's that much, since you'll have a sub. The 602's still sound very good down to 50 Hz or so.

It's been awhile since I've listened to the 600 S3 series so take this with a grain of salt but I recall slightly preferring the 602's to the 603's. I'd consider going with the 602's, 600 center and 601's for surrounds. I wasn't very impressed with the 602.5's.
