I think I may look into updating my preamp, since my current one doesn't have any inputs for 5.1(analog). I currently have the following:
    AMC Dolby Digital Pre Amp
    ATI1505
    NHT2.5I

What would be a good preAmp for Music and Movies. I want to stay under $1500.00

I have looked at the Outlaw and NAD on line.

    Thanks in Advance !!

You might be able to find Rotels' 1066 for under that and even it's replacement for that matter.

I would also check into Sherwood Newcastles' new pre-pro.
It has a great feature set.
    Check it here...

If music is a high priority for you, check out the updated Audio Refinement Pre2-DSP.

I read some reviews and it seems the Adcom GTP830 has some background hiss. I will check out the others recommended.

    Thanks.

Outlaw is excellent for the price. THe B&K REf 50 just had a big price reduction so you might get one in your price range. Look at the Fosgate pre-pro also. Nice piece- can get it at substantial discount.

I'll throw out my personal vote for the NAD T163. I own it and love it in my setup.

I've owned the Rotel 1066 and now own the Integra John mentions. I've also heard the B&K quite a few times. Not to bash the others, because they are very nice units, but, for me at least, the Integra 9.4 is absolutely a great processor for the money. There's also a very positive review at Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity. Again, this is only my opinion, but at least try to audition the thing. I got mine for $1650, but you may be able to do better.

A couple of factors that might sway you away from the Integra: (1) not firmware upgradable (2) Rotel is absolutely amazing in my book as far as being responsive to its customers. I haven't found Integra to be this way at all. Haven't had any occasion to deal with B&K, so I don't know here.

There have been quite a few people on the forums claiming that their dealers have the B&K for ~$1500. My dealer does not. [IMG]

I found it online in a place in NJ for $1595, but I don't know if the dealer is authorized.

If the sell online they are not, if they are just advertising what they have, they might be.

B&K does not authorize online sales.

My dealer has them for about that price, about the same as MSRP. [IMG] But I have been working with them quite a bit lately and they have been starting to pop the discounts in for me, so we will have to see what I can get one for.
