I hope they have the Hart-Flair match from November of 1991
in New Haven, Conn. and NOT the one where Hart won the world
title from Flair in Oct. of '92, but I'm sure they'll have
the latter one. Oh well, I'll still be getting this one!
AND, they MUST have The Hart Foundation against Arn
Anderson & Tully Blanchard from Summer Slam '89...GREAT
I agree about that Summerslam match, but I doubt it'll be on there. Not exactly a high profile match and there was no stakes involved, even though the Busters were the champs at the time.
Here are the matches per the wrestling observer:
-- Clips of Hart in Stampede
-- Hart vs. Tiger Mask in New Japan from 1982
-- Hart Foundation skits
-- Team Canada skits from 1997
-- Hart vs. Davey Boy Smith at Wembley Stadium in 1992
-- Hart vs. Austin at Wrestlemania 1997
-- Hart vs. Michaels at Wrestlemania 1996
-- Hart vs. Henning at Summerslam 1991
-- Hart vs. Benoit in WCW 1999
-- Hart vs. Steamboat in Boston, 1986
-- Hart vs. Savage at Saturday Night's Main Event, 1987
-- Hart vs. DiBiase at a house show in Odessa, TX, 1989
-- Hart vs. Andre in Milan in 1989
-- Hart Foundation vs. The Rockers at Saturday Night's Main Event in 1990
-- Hart Foundation vs. Road Warriors in 1991
-- Hart vs. Ric Flair for the WWE Title in October 1992
-- Hart vs. Yokozuna at Mania 1993
-- Hart vs. Bigelow in Barcelona 1993
-- Hart vs. Owen at Mania 1994
-- Hart vs. Yokozuna at Mania 1994
-- Hart vs. Waltman from July 1, 1994 RAW
-- Hart vs. Owen in White Plains from September 29, 1994 (his favorite match vs. his brother)
-- Hart vs. Hakushi from RAW July 24, 1995 RAW
-- Hart vs. Isaac Yankem from Summerslam 1995
-- Hart vs. Smith PPV match from 1995

I'm really glad that the Owen Hart tribute match is going to be on the set. That was blow by blow one of the best executed matches I've ever seen both Bret and Chris Benoit perform in. I hope that the DVD contains the complete, unedited match in its entirety with the portions of the match that weren't televised. I recall seeing this on Nitro, and it went for like a good 20-30 minutes, and after I had edited the commercial breaks out, you could see that there were at least 5-10 minutes of match moments that weren't shown.
Of course, later on in WCW we saw Bret and Chris really take it up a few notches in their own rivalry, which further stepped up their own games in the process.
I had a chance to see Bret and Curt Hennig perform at a WWF house show in MS back around 1989, and even then Bret was simply stunning to watch in action.
Bill, I'm in total agreement with you but WWE for whatever reason puts the matches on DVD as they aired on TV wihtout adding the footage that aired during commercial breaks. The only instance I can think of where they added footage to a match was for Vader vs Cactus Jack on Mick Foley's Greatest Hits & Misses. The footage, which included more graphic shots of Foley bleeding than WCW would allow to air on TV at the time, came from Foley's personal copy of the match so there's a possibility with Bret having a huge ammount of input into the DVD that something can be done to make the Owen Tribute match un-edited.
Isn't the unedited Owen Hart Tribute Match already on the Chris Benoit DVD?
That Chris Benoit match had me. One of the best matches I saw in the year or two I watched wrestling. I watched religiously during the height of Nitro. From a few months before they went to three hours til about August 99 then gradually faded away from wrestling. I'd like to see the slugs of Bret Hart's intro to WCW where he came out and saved the Sting/Hogan match by reffing it badly and declaring Sting winner. (did I get that right?). Loved watching that coverage and made me instantly love Hart.
Not trying to hijack the tread, but it does bring up a question for me. I want to get the Bret Hart set, but I have no interest in a Benoit set. I do, however, want to own the Benoit/Hart match.
Is it OK for matches to be duplicated, if they are historically significant (or standout matches) for both guys involved. (Mindgames HBK vs Foley comes to mind as a match that might belong on a Foley set, but not a Michaels set... whereas Survivor Series 97 would belong on both a Hart and Michaels set)
Personally, I think Disney is taking the right road on this with their "Treasures" tins - The new Donald Duck set includes a lot of Donald's World Ward II cartoon, all of which were also on their WWII collection DVD. Duplication, yes, but it allows you to truly own "The complete works of Donald Duck" if you buy only the Donald DVDs. I think the WWE should go the same way, though I think the trend has been more the opposite.
I haven't been able to pick up any of their big sets yet, though I have seen most of the Flair, Foley, and Taker sets. I would like to pick up all three of those, and I am interested in Bret Hart.
Any reviews for this yet?
