My current DVD player is nearly dead. I need to replace it. I know that HD/Blu-Ray is coming up, so I don't want to spend a lot of money on something that will be replaced. For grins and giggles, I was thinking of buying the $99 upcoverting Samsung DVD player from Costco. Sure, it's a gimmick, but could be interesting. My other choice is going with something a little higher quality, like the Harmon Kardon DVD22 ($200).

Does anybody here have any experience with either player?
Would I really see that much a difference between those two players? Anybody out there care to comment on either player?
FYI, I am using a 55inch Mitsu RP HDTV

    Thanks.

Why don't u "audition" both of them and see which tickles ur fancy? I'm sure Costco has a good return policy as well that place u get that HK. Nothing wil be better than making A and B comparisons with ur own eyes.

That is a great idea, but in practice it never works out that well for me. Between my job, two kids, community activities and the other duties of life, time just disappears.

I'd go with the cheaper one. Return it if your not happy.
