Upconversion Artifacts on RP-CRT's (Hitach and Panny) (1 Viewer)

i was looking at an RP-CRT toshiba 84 series today and it looked pretty good not great but very good

we switched the dvd (U-571) back and forth between 540P and 1080i and the salesguy was saying how much he preffered the 540P to 1080i.....i agreed with him and it made me wonder:

---do people have preferences one way or the other 540p vs 1080i ???

---do some sets handle this upconversion better than others???

---specifically how does the Hitachi 51F510 compare to the for dvd upconversion to the Panny 53x54

---i am pretty much down to choosing between these 2 sets and i want to buy for dvd watching first and sd cable second (i figure both will look very good with hd)

I think 1080i looks better than 540p on my Hitachi 57S715. The edges of some diagonal lines look smoother and less jagged.
