Yup. It's never safe to adopt the "It won't happen to me" mindset, or even the "Well, if someone mooches on my Internet line a bit it's no problem". If someone uses your wireless network to use your Internet connection to share kiddie porn, you might be in for a rough ride... to pick just one thing that might happen.

Really, the only way to use wifi is to have gear that can do WPA encryption. Nothing else is really safe... or at the very least, somewhat challenging to crack. If that isn't possible, then at the very least 128-bit WEP encryption; the casual service thieves will go with one of the many unsecured nets instead that way, most likely...
