OK, when is this game really going to be released? MS's site says spring '02 and the Unreal site says spring '02. But, some other gaming sites say it will be released October 15 (I double checked to make sure they were referring to the Xbox version), while a local retailer has the Xbox version relase date as October 10. What gives?

I would be willing to bet October is the more reasonable date. Microsoft wants to hold onto this one until thier online network is up and running.

So the developer and MS say it will be out in the spring, but you believe all the fan sites that say fall? Nothing against you, Romier. I just don't understand why they would advertise a game, then delay it - but not even update their own sites.

The Microsoft guy I know says it should be out next month, but he doesn't work on anything Xbox related, so he may be wrong. I guess I just have a tendency to believe MS on this one, but I can't figure out why all the fan sites have fall listed as the release date.

This is a tough one for me. Should I buy Unreal Championship for Xbox, Unreal Episode 2 for PC, or Unreal Tournament 2003 for PC?

Unreal Ep. 2 is out due to its lack of multiplayer (and the single person version of Unreal was just average). So that leaves me with the Xbox game and UT2003. What to do...what to do?

To be fair, Camp, the single player Unreal 2 is being handled by a different bunch of guys to the original - Legend Entertainment. Looks really good what I've seen of it. And I know the head of the studio out there is *real* good.

Well, you should also include Unreal Tournament 2 (PC) due out in June of this year.

Camp: Yes, yes, and yes. [IMG] I know, not too helpful - but I'm so excited that I'm getting them all (and probably a PC upgrade to handle the new game).

    Alex,
Unreal Tournament 2 is now called Unreal Tournament 2003.
    Check it out: http://gamespot.com/gamespot/stories...855667,00.html
OK...well here's my current ranking for these three:
    1. Unreal Tournament 2003 - multiplayer in UT was fantastic...I can't pass this one up.
    2. Unreal Championship - Single player and online..what more can a guy want?
    3. Unreal Ep. 2 - If the reviews are great I'll have to get it.
...and my wife will say, "why did you pay for the same game 3 times?"

I'm pretty much tied between UT 2003 and UC as my most-wanted of the three games, with Unreal 2 coming a bit after. Between Deus Ex 2 and Doom 3, I think my single-player PC FPS lineup is well-stocked already.

Halo's multiplayer game settings editor is fantastic, but you simply can't beat Unreal Tournament for stat-tracking and total configuration freedom.

I'm not so sure we'll see Doom 3 this year. Hope so but...

    OOOoooo...Doom 3. There's a big one!
All I can say is, if they get the same twisted freak that did the sound for the original on the PSOne, I'll be in gaming heaven. For me, the sound/music was what made the 1st so damn unnerving!
I can only imagine it in DD5.1! [IMG]
Oh yeah, almost forgot, Thief III. That's THE FPS that I'm seriously waiting on. Hopefully they can get it out by the holidays this year.
Nothing like a 1st person sneaker, imho. [IMG]

Ya know, I hate to admit it but, I never played the original Quake. [IMG]
Was Trent's music more like atmospheric shit to creep you out? If so, that's my kind of music for a game like Doom 3.

Trent not only did the music to Quake but he also did a lot of the sound effects as well. Its pretty much a given that he will be doing Doom III, he wants to do it, the guys at id are all great friends with him. I normally turn off the music in games and play MP3s insteard, not with Quake I though....its just the perfect soundtrack for that game. BTW - I'm so looking forward to Doom III it is now my most wanted game.

It would be great to have Trent back on D3. Just as long as id keeps Rob Zombie as far away from it as possible!

Let's be clear - the game itself isn't pay to play, it's Microsoft's upcoming XBox Network that charges a subscription fee for access. Infogrames, my employer (to be open), is NOT the one charging you for online play.
