Frankly, I'm not much interested in the Universal product of 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. Ken Koc has listed titles from the 1960s. Below are some titles that I want from the 1950s that have not (and I stand to be corrected) legitimately seen the light of day on laser disc, DVD or blu ray.

South Sea Sinner (1950) Shelley Winters, Macdonald Carey
Frenchie (1950) Joel McCrea, Shelley Winters
Katie Did It (1951) Ann Blyth, Mark Stevens
Smuggler's Island (1951) Jeff Chandler, Evelyn Keyes
Hollywood Story (1951) Richard Conte, Julie Adams
Mark Of The Renegade (1951) Ricardo Montalban, Cyd Charisse
Little Egypt (1951) Rhonda Fleming, Mark Stevens
Raging Tide (1951) Richard Conte, Shelley Winters
Weekend With Father (1951) Van Heflin, Patricia Neal
Sally And Saint Anne (1952) Ann Blyth, Edmund Gwenn
Because Of You (1952) Loretta Young, Jeff Chandler
The Raiders (1952) Richard Conte, Viveca Lindfors
Meet Me At The Fair (1952) Dan Dailey, Diana Lynn
It Happens Every Thursday (1953) Loretta Young, John Forsythe
Desert Legion (1953) Alan Ladd, Arlene Dahl
Take Me To Town (1953) Sterling Hayden, Ann Sheridan
East Of Sumatra (1953) Jeff Chandler, Marilyn Maxwell
All American (1953) Tony Curtis, Lori Nelson
Forbidden (1953) Tony Curtis, Joanne Dru.
Walking My Baby Back Home (1953) Donald O' Connor, Janet Leigh
Yankee Pasha (1954) Jeff Chandler, Rhonda Fleming
Playboy (1954) Shelley Winters, Barry Sullivan
Tanganyika (1954) Van Heflin, Ruth Roman
So This Is Paris (1955) Tony Curtis, Gloria DeHaven
The Looters (1955) Rory Calhoun, Julie Adams
Ain't Misbehavin' (1955) Rory Calhoun, Piper Laurie
The Shrike (1955) June Allyson, Jose Ferrer
Kiss Of Fire (1955) Jack Palance, Barbara Rush
Second Greatest Sex (1955) Jeanne Crain, George Nader
World In My Corner (1956) Audie Murphy, Barbara Rush
Toy Tiger (1956) Jeff Chandler, Laraine Day
Congo Crossing (1956) Virginia Mayo, George Nader
Everything But The Truth (1956) Maureen O'Hara, John Forsythe
Curucu Beast Of The Amazon (1956) John Bromfield, Beverly Garland
Great Man (1956) Jose Ferrer, Julie London
Four Girls In Town (1957) George Nader, Julie Adams
Tattered Dress (1957) Jeff Chandler, Jeanne Crain
Kelly And Me (1957) Van Johnson, Martha Hyer
Girl In The Kremlin (1957) Lex Barker, Zsa Zsa Gabor
Public Pigeon No. 1 (1957) Red Skelton, Vivian Blaine
Slaughter On Tenth Avenue (1957) Richard Egan, Jan Sterling
Twilight For The Gods (1958) Rock Hudson, Cyd Charisse
Voice In The Mirror (1958) Richard Egan, Julie London
Raw Wind In Eden (1958) Esther Williams, Jeff Chandler
Never Steal Anything Small (1959) James Cagney, Shirley Jones
Stranger In My Arms (1959) June Allyson, Jeff Chandler

Great list, Thomas. One erratum however. Hollywood Story has been released on DVD by TCM.

Assuming NOV means never on video, I have DVDs of Puzzle Of A Downfall Child from France and Moment By Moment from Germany. Both are very good transfers. I have a blu ray of The Seduction Of Joe Tynan from France. A blu ray of Swashbuckler is available from Germany but I don't own it.

It was a Universal film when first released in 1968. Why do you believe it is now with Paramount?

He's confusing Universal's The Hell With Heroes (1968) with Rod Taylor with Paramount's Hell Is For Heroes (1962) with Steve McQueen.

I'm sorry - I confused it with the Don Siegel movie.

I've had that happen to me here when I urged Universal to release Albert Zugsmith's Girl in the Kremlin (1958) (Thanks for including that In your own list, btw, Thomas!). A fellow board member asked if I didn't mean 1974's Girl from Petrovka. :)

Not to dismiss anyone else's desires, but speaking for myself the only title mentioned so far that I'd consider purchasing is Slaughter on Tenth Avenue (and Cape Fear, but I've already got that one).

I think Universal is probably the most represented studio for catalog titles at the moment. Some of the films on your list they may not have rights to any longer, some may have rights issues, others may reqiure extensive restorations and some may not have enough commercial appeal to even bother.

Lack of commercial appeal as a disc doesn't always mean they won't at least try to gauge interest in some way. Moment by Moment had an OAR HD master that aired on Universal HD in the 2000s. So I gave it a fair shot. Holy mother of pearl, what a clunker. Even in a remastered transfer, I found the film to be unwatchable — I don't think I made it through the first half-hour — and it made The Incredible Shrinking Woman (already on Blu by Shout!) look like a classic by comparison. This is an example of something I would be surprised to see get released. It doesn't even have any camp appeal. It just sits there on the screen aimlessly scrambling to find reasons for us to care about the two self-absorbed lead characters.

Boom! at least earned the approval of John Waters.

Diary of a Mad Housewife also has a discrepancy in the running time between the theatrical release and the version released by MCA Home Video in the 1980s. Someone tried to put together a stop-gap reconstruction on YouTube years ago. Hopefully an eventual Blu-ray will restore the uncut version.

FM* must still be in the clutches of the Music Rights Monster. Didn't that have music replaced in every medium it was released in?

*Wrongly compared to the TV show WKRP in Cincinnati since they both premiered in 1978; it got a TV version in the late 1980s that flopped.

What a great list. Most intrigued by Frenchie. Shelley Winters and Joel Mcrea. A combustibly sexy couple
