I searched and found a ton of discussions on the Harmony but a HT installer I communicated with on another forum said that he never uses those and favors the MX-350 much more on his smaller jobs. I'm not findig much information on these. Reviews, discussions, etc.

anybody have any experience with them?

    MX-350 vs. MX-500:
    advantages:
    -many more, longer macros available
-RF with addressable base stations, base station is extra cost
-better directional pad with separate select button
-no dual labeled keys, less confusing for new users
    -more total commands supported

    disadvantages:
    -cost
-fewer commands per LCD page, 5 vs. 10
    -missing chapter skip buttons

    vs. Harmony:
    advantages:
-overall better feel, size, placement of buttons
-real macros available, not just "activities".
-can tweak programming without hooking up to computer + internet

    disadvantages:
-not computer programmable, so may need another cheap OneForAll JP-1 compatible remote to obtain discrete codes for reliable macro operation.
-no "smart state" to deal with devices without discrete codes for on/off, input selection.

You should also consider the MX-700 which can be found for about the same price as the MX-350. It offers computer based programming, and has the 10-command LCD.
