Universal: please, when you release "E.T." ... (1 Viewer)

I beg you, include the complete, original theatrical cut of the film. We're hearing all sorts of information about CGI alteration. I think that's great, that Mr. Spielberg has a chance to re-work his film and distribute it to an audience.
But please, Universal ... many of us in his audience want the original version.
This is not an artistic judgment; whether the modifications are "good" or "bad," in anyone's opinion, is irrelevent. A good deal of film lovers simply will not settle fo anything but the original film, and we will appreciate the revised edition much more if presented as a companion piece to the 1982 version.
Frankly, many of us (like me, with my LD box!) will not even buy an E.T. DVD if the entire 1982 version isn't included somehow (i.e., seamless branching, 2nd disc). Many of us will instead be enraged -- and as a group, we're pretty influential among our more casual DVD-buying friends & family.
I urge you, don't insult us by revising a film, and then banishing the original. Keep the original intact. I urge you, and plead with you: don't let us down on this one.
Thanks,
Matt
:)

I agree.
Universal, E.T. is a classic movie and it is just wrong to alter a classic movie.
It is like removing the shower scene from Psycho, Yes really.
I beg you Universal, Also release the original E.T. on DVD
Regards,
Ricky

I already regret getting the original LD of this since it has the "You're not going as a terrorist!" line cut. I certainly won't be "upgrading" to any further-altered version.

This is Spielberg's doing, so it's pretty much not up to Universal. But I agree 100%. I'm still going to buy this dvd no matter what, but if the original version were included, that's the version I would always watch.

I also think both versions should be included as well...

I feel you Matt. Universal & Mr. Spielberg, please release the original theatrical presentation of this film. I have no desire to buy any alteration of this film on dvd or any other format. It would be very disappointing if the original cut were not released at the same time the new edited (with CGI FX) version is released on dvd. Please make this happen. Thank you so much.

I see little chance of the original version being released on DVD, but that's the only version I'll buy.

I will immediately purchase ET. Only the original uncut version, however.

As always, let me be blunt:
No Original Version = No Sale
Thank you.

Oh, heavens. Current word is that the tinkering has been extended to E.T.'s facial expressions. I'm going to cry.

When the edited DVD is released, I will be sending Universal a photo of ~$25 with a letter explaining that my money would be theirs if they offered the original non-PC, revisionist history version for sale.
Until then, they can have the picture.

I think Universal has exactly 0% input as to what goes out on DVD from Spielbergs catalog. Your anger is directed in the wrong direction.
