if Paramount own it I find it odd that imdb.com lists Universal as owning the rights also it would be strange that Up In smoke and Still Smokin were released by Paramount but Next Movie wasn't put out at the same time.Heck if you go to imdb.com that little art on the site sure looks to have a Universal Logo on it. Also if you click the company credits button it even says Universal, someone's wrong.
Yeah, he's defintely wrong. I just thought it kind of amusing that he didn't know it was in Universal's catalog!

Peter, there are a pretty fair number of titles on your list that I'd buy in a New York minute!:D

Let's get the W.C. Fields Paramounts, at least. Criterion's done pretty well on the Sturges movies, after all, as well as on their Bank Dick and Fields shorts.

Instead, Universal's been concentrating on issuing their Bob Hope and Abbott & Costello catalog ...

I'd like to think they'd go back as far as the amazing early Technicolor musical, KING OF JAZZ (1930), but I'll settle for alot of the other hoped for titles. :D

I totally agree. I would buy the DVD's of the Walter Lantz cartoons such as Woody Woodpecker, Chily Willy, etc on DVD but ony if the DVD(S) have the un-cut/un-alterted cartoons.

I also want Casper & Weird Science on DVD in its OAR.

Good God, what I wouldn't give for Douglas Sirk's Imitation of Life, A Time To Love and A Time To Die and The Tarnished Angels.

What I really want to see from Universal is a cleaned-up, anamorphic Deer Hunter. Extras would help too. Hey, it's not like Michael Cimino wouldn't be available.
Who's the rep from Universal here? Yeah, this one would be nice too.
And Micheal Cimino would have plenty of free time to make a commentary. :)

Also where is "Sweet Charity" with the success of "Fosse" and "Chicago" on Broadway
Huh?? Chicago is out on DVD?? The Fosse DVD is certainly excellent. I thought the only thing we were going to get out of Chicago was the potentially crummy film with Rene Zellweger & Catherine Zeta-Jones pretending to sing and dance instead of the taleneted B'Way goddesses: Bebe Neuwirth & Ann Reinking.

I can reveal that at least some of (most) of these are already in the works:
King Of The Hill (Collector's Edition) Steven Soderbergh's
Scarface (Ultimate Edition) The Al Pacino remake
Rumble Fish (Collector's Edition) Francis Ford Coppola's
The Glass Menagerie Paul Newman's all-star adaptation
Streets Of Fire (Ultimate Edition) Walter Hill's cult classic starring Diane Lane
Expect most of these in 2003! That's from Universal themselves.

Well, that will make the Scarface fans happy. Martin, do you work for Universal? If you do, tell them two things: Frighteners SE is a piggy bank, and hurry up with those Pitch Black sequels!

Martin,

Please tell me there is no truth to the rumor that a new musical score is being created for the new Scarface Ultimate Edition.

My two cents' worth:
1. Curse of the Werewolf (1961)
2. The Funhouse (1981) [Goodtimes version needs re-doing]
3. The Legacy (1979)
4. This Island Earth (1956)
5. Mary, Queen of Scots (1971)
6. Rumble Fish (1983) [mentioned above as in production]
7. Kolchak: The Night Stalker (1974-'75 tv series)
8. The Sentinel (1977) [Goodtimes version needs re-doing]
9. Monster on Campus (1958)
10. High Plains Drifter (1972) [remaster]
11. 1984 (1984) [Universal's through USA HV???]

I would gladly hand over a significant portion of my anatomy for this in widescreen, with both orig. japanese language and the english dub (where Paul Frees does just about everyone's voice accept Linda Miller!)
Sadly, will probably never happen :frowning:.
