Me too, more so for the Clapton. [IMG]

Can you imagine the sound of the Clapton Unplugged Super Audio if they do it?

I have to admit that Clapton Unplugged is easily the best fidelity redbook recording I have ever heard and I would drool at a SACD release.

I too Lee am psyched about Ryan Adams. I love both "Demolition" and "Gold". I wish they would release "Demolition" on SACD.

Still waiting for Universal/A&M to release some Styx in 5.1 sound. I know I shouldn't hold my breath though.

Well all I can say is that I'm glad that "Gold" came out before "Rock N' Roll" because I'm not so sure that I would have given Ryan another listen if I would have heard "RNR" first.

It's OK, but I sure had higher expectations after hearing "Gold"

Al, have not heard "Rock N' Roll" yet, I figured I would wait on the SACD if I wanted it. If you like "Gold" you should check out "Love is Hell" Pt. 1 and Pt. 2. I like them both a lot.

I'll buy ROCK N ROLL again, I got the vinyl already, to try and help encourage Universal to continue putting out current stuff as opposed to mostly all re-releases. I think it's a fun album but I'd never call it the best album of the year. I would call it the greatest U2 album that does not in fact feature U2, itself, of the year, I suppose.[IMG] I don't mind him being being a very derivative act, that's alright by me. I just think about UNDER A BLOOD RED SKY when I hear RNR, so I got U2 out and listened to it again, of course. The only thing that would stop me from buying RNR would be if it was single-layer. RNR = Good, oui, album of the year, not. Derek Trucks is stille my king of the hill, then I'm perinally, always for the underdogs. [IMG]

I've said it before...I'm a Love Is Hell kinda guy, so I'd really like to see it on SACD. "Political Scientist" in hi-rez? Oh yeah....

But if I HAD to, I suppose I could suffer through Rock N Roll in hi-rez. I mean, it's still worlds better than a lot of the dreck currently being released [IMG]

Well those words are true enough.

My 2 fav "buy them on a whim" discs this year are Dolly Parton "Halos and Horns" this SACD sounds great and she actually does an outstanding cover of "Stairway To Heaven" and The Bad Plus "These Are The Vistas" what a great jazz disc from these three guys plus terrific versions of Nirvanas "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and Blondies "Heart Of Glass"

Check out theses two discs. [IMG]

I'm assuming these are hybrids. If so, I would be digging April in Paris.

I can't seem to find this listed as an SACD. Was this album released on either SACD or DVD-A, or is it merely a redbook CD?

It's not an SACD. Sorry for the confusion. I was just answering the comment about newly released drek.

    Buy it anyway. [IMG]

Since the conversation includes some Ryan Adams discussion...

Any notice that there is a full page ad in the current Stereophile (Legacy Speaker on the cover) that has cover shots of a dozen or so SACDs. One is Beck's Sea Change.

But look at the same ad in the PREVIOUS issue (don't recall the cover). It has the same photo of Sea Change, BUT it is labelled as Ryan Adam's Gold!

I wonder how that would rank up on his "piss me off-o-meter" compared to someone shouting out for Summer or '69?

Side note to RachaelB....have you seen the Allmans Live at the Beacon Theater? As I posted in a separate thread, Derek Trucks' slide work on that show is absolutely stunning, IMHO.

Derek Trucks' slide work is ALWAYS stunning. I have seen Derek more times than I expected to - with the Derek Trucks Band opening for Hot Tuna a few years ago at the Beacon Theater. Then I saw him with an early incarnation of Phil and Friends (prior to the static lineup Phil has been using for the past few years). And then I have seen him with The Brothers many, many times over the years he has been a member - at the Beacon and other places. This past summer I was in the second row at the PNC Bank Arts Center and just watched his fingers. Amazing.

Yes, Lee, I'm sure the Henderson album is good. It must have passed me by.

Sam, actually two of the SACDs are non-hybrids. One of them is, of course, April in Paris, the title that I was most excited about.

    *sigh*

While I've never heard it quite like that before, it just doesn't sound right with Dolly Parton singing those lyrics! [IMG]
