Lots of people have problems connecting to the internet but have any of you heard of this -

New Dell M/c running XP Pro. All the crap removed and all sensible spyware, virus & firewall stuff added. Everything fine - EXCEPT - when you try and disconnect from the internet (BT Broadband) the M/c locks up.

If you shut IE window and right click on icon in taskbar it locks there. If you shut down without closing IE or connection first it locks at 'saving settings'

Only switching off does anything, Ctrl/Alt/del has no effect.

After finally getting XP disc out of Dell ran SCF /scannow which seemed to add back a couple of files but still froze. Did a repair inst, and still the same, done all the lost updates on windows still the same.

Run out of ideas... HEEEELP :frowning:

Broken computer.

Bad RAM, problems with cooling, some such. Most likely, in any event.
