TX-SR608 VS TX-SR504 (1 Viewer)

I have both. I use the pass thru on the TX-SR608. I actually liked the separation of the TX-504 better.

My question is am I afforded anything by using the HDMI when I use the Video Pass Thru?

I am setting up a new theater. And would like to know if I should buy a new receiver and what will be gained by it.
