1) How are non-anamorphic DVDs shown on a 16:9 TV? Is the entire width of the screen used? Do you have to use a zoom mode of some sort? Are there any websites I could use as a resource?
2) Same questions for 1.66 anamorphic DVDs.
Thanks for the help.

Non-anamorphic - most TVs have zoom modes available. However the Panasonic RP91 DVD player has a scaling feature that formats non-anamorphic to resemble anamorphic, you don't have to use the TV's zoom mode, thus better resolution. My RP91 is on the way at this moment.
1:66 ananmorphic - no zoom needed, there will be very thin black bars on the side. However, due to overscan on the TV you probably won't see them. I don't notice them at all on my Tosh widescreen.

Craig, thanks. That sounds like a cool feature of the Panny 91. I recently bought the 31 after buying a WEGA, but returned it yesterday, since I'm probably going to get the new Panny 16:9.
