Finally someone started a petition. If you haven't seen season 2 before I suggest you don't read the petition page's list of wanted features on the discs. It has a spoiler concerning the killer.

Has anyone informed peakers at Twin Peaks Gazette?

May I also raise questions about the purpose
of this petition.

It seems to me that studio(s) are very interested
in releasing this title, but there are legal issues
that are holding up the Season Two release. If this
is the case, how would a petition help?

I agree entirely that this is very much on the minds of the people involved, and they all DO want to put this out. The title is not simply being ignored or forgotten; that's been indicated all along.

If a petition drive makes you feel like you are doing something, then go for it. But I don't think it will make an impact on the situation, in all honesty.

From what I've heard, there is more at stake in this situation than Twin Peaks Season 2. But I don't have enough information to discuss it (Ron probably knows lots more than I do), and I think that a public discussion about it would probably slow down the release process even further.

I post at the Gazette, and I think a lot of people would be interested (just to, as was stated earlier, "do something"), which is why I have qualms about bringing the petition to their attention. I'm going to wait until 2004 until I do any signing, though I am a fanatic about the show. If they haven't cleared up this legal mumbo-jumbo by then, I'll sign a petition just to let them know that I'm interested and concerned. Its just a little soon ater these rights issues started to make demands.

I'll tell you who really has been hurt the
most by the witholding of Twin Peaks Season 2....

Consumers like myself.

I was never a huge David Lynch fan. For this
reason, I wasn't exactly looking forward to
reviewing Twin Peaks season One upon
its release two years ago. The rest is history...

I was surprisingly sucked into the show. Thought
it was one of the most innovative shows I had ever
seen, and by the time I had finished watching the
entire first season, I was ready for more!

But after two years of waiting for the second
season to be released (and hearing about all
the legal BS), I could really care less about
the release. I have forgotten the entire first
season. In order to even remotely anticipate
the arrival of a second season, I would have to
go back and watch the first all over again.

It's a shame that people like myself who got
hooked on the show 2 years ago with the original
boxed set release have now forgotten most of
everything that has happened, and are forced to
rewatch it all in the event of a Season 2 release.

I think in the very least it will remind these Companies that there is demand. I would have waited to do a petition, but it HAS been 2 years since the release of Season 1.

Why??? If the details of the rights dispute get widely publicized, I would think it just might embarrass the parties involved into settling. Getting the facts out into the open can only be a good thing.

What I understand about the R1 rights dustup, what's holding up Paramount's R2 release???

It's not clear to me how Paramount thinks that they own the rights, but all they have to do is wait for Artisan's license to expire (the Republic catalog license is IIRC only a five-year license, and it's got to be over half done already) and there they are.

My wife keeps asking me when this is coming out. Like Ron, she was hooked after season one.

She wants to watch FWWM too but I won't let her until she sees season two.
