I'm looking for a 24-27" direct view crt tv for the bedroom that would have all of these features:

    headphone jack
    raster squeeze
    ability to turn off SVM

anyone know of a tv that has all of these features?

    Thanks,
    Ken H

The Sony KV-27FS100. Some Sony models have an IR-based headphone system, which isn't bad.

The Samsung TXN2734 27" Flat Tube does the Raster Squeeze & has a headphone Jack but I don't know about SVM on it though because on Samsung's website it doesn't say anything about SVM so maybe the set doesn't even have it? On Toshiba's you can't turn the SVM "Off" & I don't think the Sony's, JVC's or Panasonic's have a headphone jack on the 27" size sets & none of them wiil do the Raster Squeeze on the 24" models except Toshiba.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't Toshibas have a "movie mode" that turns off SVM automatically?

Scott, You might be right, I know that on some of the Sony models that was the case but Toshiba doesn't mention anything about the ability to turn it on & off on their website so I just figured that you could'nt. Maybe someone who has a Toshiba set can answer that.

Yes, there is "movie" mode on the Toshibas that turns off SVM.

I'm not sure if it only applies to the regular tube TVs or just the RPTVs. I have a 42H82 42" RPTV.

Ken, If I was you I would look for a set that you liked best that had the 16:9 DVD Mode & SVM ON/OFF then if you needed the Earphone Jack any TV Shop can install one it's about as simple as a job you can get & I don't think they would charge you very much to install one either. As for the Toshiba's SVM I would call Toshiba & check it out with them.
