I am planning on getting the Tosh 57HL83 when it comes out this fall. As I understand it, there are no focusing issues as compared to a conventional RPTV. If this is the case, could I safely place a 20-39 PC+ immediately behind the TV knowing that I would not have to worry about any lenses drifting, or would the sub literally shake the TV apart (or damage it in some way)? Both would be placed in the corner of my living room. Thanks for the info.

Matt, to come at this from a different angle, are you generally running your audio at such ear-splitting levels? You might want to reconsider that practice. As for the sub's placement, it would take some pretty intense dB levels to cause the CRTs to drift out of convergence. I would be more concerned about magnetic interference if placed too close that low next to an RPTV. Is the sub shielded?

No, the sub is not. I generally do not listen to anything at ear-splitting levels. I was just curious as to whether or not this would be a bad idea. I thought that the whole convergence thing was the reason that most people considered placing a sub behind a TV bad idea. If one did not have to worry about convergence, would begind the TV still be a bad option? I would be worried about shaking something loose on the inside of the television.
