Yeah, I also think that a separate set will come out at a later date. It might be a while though, because Shout probably wants to push this complete set as much as possible.

OK... Like many of you I have the previous releases - complete - so all I need is Good Morning Miss Bliss. I'll be waiting for the separate release.

So WAC continues to ignore classic HB and classic TV. Call me completely underwhelmed. I guess we will never see the 50's -70's HB completed. They were making good progress until the end of 2016 but nothing but scraps since then.

    Randy,

I wouldn't be too hard on them. As they said before, they are still working on The New Fred and Barney Show at this point, so look for that this fall or winter. Patience is your best friend!

Jana of the Jungle was supposed to be coming from WA. I'm not sure what happened, but I'm really upset that there is no progress. I think WB mentioned it years ago now.

FWIW: The only news I've heard of Jana of the Jungle was from the late, great Darrell McNeil (who sadly left us this past Independence Day), who contributed to that series uncredited, but not from WAC itself. I actually talked with WAC last year or so about this title on their Twitter, and nothing matched up with what McNeil said of it. But I still think they will release it!

Guys, is that problematic for WB Archives to reassemble the Banana Splits, the Chattanooga Cats, and the New Adventures of Gulliver? I just can't understand why they shouldn't be out by now? They've had years to get everything assembled and it just doesn't make sense.

The more the original master prints age, the more it becomes true... and then you have to factor in exactly how much demand there was (and still is) for all this older stuff, and stuff this rare doesn't really have all that much demand. Right now, titles like these you mention are not high priority for the folks at WAC.

The best thing to do with The Hanna-Barbera library would be to license it all out to say Shout Factory and let them give the fans what they want and for WB to get some % of the sale profits.

But not to VEI as they would only be using the current videotaped masters instead of the 1st-generation (filmed) master prints, and they would also de-compress in order to fit more long-form episodes to one disc!

I'm not sure I would want Shout to release HB either after the sloppy, edited, and incomplete messes they released for Underdog and Tennessee Tuxedo. They would probably release the syndicated 30 minute Banana Splits show. Also since all the older ones need re-mastering it won't due Shout much good to get old worn out masters. They would take a lot of flack for releasing those so if WAC spends the money re-mastering them they will release them not license them. Its all a matter of spending the money to re-master and reassemble complete shows.
I have been one of the biggest supporters of WAC's HB releases since they started in 2010. With nothing significant since the end of 2016 and all the best shows needing work to assemble its becoming obvious that WAC doesn't want to spend the money to do this to get them released. The DVD/Blu Ray market continues to shrink every month so I guess we can't blame for not wanting to release any shows that will take some investment. I will probably get Fred and Barney even though it doesn't excite me. I hated those as a kid no comparison to the original Flintstones which is probably my favorite HB show. But so many on my list I still would love to have:

    The rest of Huckleberry Hound
    The Wally Gator Show
    Quick Draw McGraw
Tom and Jerry/Grape Ape Show (1 hour show)
    The Banana Splits Hour
The Catanooga Cats (1 Hour Show)
    The New Adventures of Gulliver
Yogi's Space Race (90 minute show)

As we saw with Magilla Gorilla and the first Huckleberry Hound releases, the HB library has passed through several hands and is a mess. Original prints and negatives of the shows as they aired were thrown out along the way and the shows don't exist as complete shows anymore and many of the elements are gone. That was why when they had interstitials on HH, they were drawn from prints and tapes in private collections. Also, didn't Top Cat have the same set of closing credits on all of the episodes? On top of all that, is the Capitol Music Library Music, which even though the company has been out of business for over 50 years, everyone fears releasing anything that contained their cues.

The Shield coming to Blu from Mill Creek.

And when I saw that Police Squad/Naked gun set, I thought it was Blu and was happy! Then I saw it was a repackaging, and was back to my normal curmudgeonly self.

And, it appears like Call The Midwife, The Durrells has been abandoned on Blu. That's my major problem with TV on Blu... the abandonment rate is too damn high.

That's why I prefer they do it all in one fell swoop like The Rockford Files or Dick Van Dyke Show. If they go season by season, you risk it stalling/not being completed.
