Now Lionsgate going all-in with dvd-mod.
Life With Lucy was such a trainwreck, but I will likely still get it. I am very surprised they are releasing it, TBH.
Life With Lucy, eh?
'Bout time. I'll buy it because I'm a completist.
I’m still waiting for seasons 2-3 of Mayberry RFD. I see a re release of Streets of San Francisco
What do you think will be the nature of that Streets redo?
If I had to guess, probably just a change in SKU and UPC code numbers.
I'd rather own Blu-rays of the first 11 seasons, but this at least contradicts the meme that physical media is dead.
I would hope they would change the packaging.
Tons of dr who and fox dvd-mod stuff.
Has anyone seen whether the "remastered" Garfield and Friends actually is? I already bought the Fox sets, so I'm keeping those unless I see significant improvements compared the composite masters they used in the 2000s that were nonetheless more complete than The Program Exchange's syndicated package that never added the later seasons even after the show ended its original CBS run.
This must be the third time that the He-Man Masters of the Universe cartoon was released on dvd. (IIRC, it was previously released by bci eclipse, and Mill Creek).
Yes, He Man and the Masters of the Universe was first released in half-season sets by BCI/Eclipse, went OOP (and up in price dramatically), got a re-release by Mill Creek on fewer discs (12) which is OOP (and high priced). This new Universal one says 16 discs. The original from BCI was 24 discs.
Looking this up at Amazon I find they're also re-releasing She-Ra in a 12 disc set the same day (a former coworker thought She-Ra was "hot").
I'm curious to see how they package these sets.
It appears Universal is not releasing the individual season/volume sets, simultaneously with the respective complete series sets for He-Man and She-Ra.
Universal is doing things slightly different for the original Voltron cartoon, where they're releasing "vehicle force" and "lion force" in their own individual dvd sets. So the complete series original Voltron dvd set, is probably just a bundling of the two individual vehicle and lion forces dvd sets. (All released on the same day September 24, 2019).
The question is whether Universal has any future plans to split up the He-Man and She-Ra sets, into individual season/volume dvd releases. At this time in 2019, I suspect it is probably not going to be done this way. (This marketing strategy was probably viable back in the 2000s decade).
So if Universal is not going the route of separate seasons/volumes, then most likely the packaging will be one of those giant 12+ discs cases that Paramount and Fox has been using for their complete series sets.
That's my thinking as well. I'm OK with that as I generally like those "Megapak" things and would love to purchase some to repackage some of my more "expansive" sets.
Judging by the episode vs disc counts, it appears these Universal versions of She-Ra, He-Man, and Voltron will have 9 or 10 episodes per disc. (The final two discs of He-Man and She-Ra appear to be the same, with some xmas episode and other special features).
I looked up the old bci eclipse versions of he-man and she-ra, where it appears the discs had 6 or 7 episodes per disc. (I kinda wonder if these bci eclipse versions were actually single-layer dvd5 discs).
I take no joy in asking this. Is it safe to assume that Mayberry RFD season 2 and 3, and or any further Andy Griffith Blu Ray or potential Gomer Pyle USMC Blu Rays are Dead on arrival due to music license and the lawsuit by Earl Hagen’s Estate?
