My sentiments exactly!!! I am mainly interested in "Modern Family" and "American Horror Story"......I was so disappointed when Fox stop making Blu-rays and only DVD releases for "Modern Family after season 4......and now Fox/Disney is doubling down by making MOD-DVDs!!!! Uggh!!! How do we go backwards in technology.....frustrating!!!! For "American Horror Story", the last season "Cult" was released on DVD only in the U.S......but there was an all region Blu-ray release though in Europe......I am hoping they do the same for this next season of "American Horror Story"....it's so ridiculous to have a Blu-ray set for each of the first 7 seasons....then have a MOD-DVD for the 8th?!?!?!

In either case, I will probably still buy the next seasons, but I am definitely going to do some research first on the all-region Blu-ray release for "American Horror Story". If anyone sees/hears about this, please post in this forum post.....Thank you.

Wow, talk about a flashback! Had forgotten all about this H-B cartoon until you posted the opening credits, Ben! Remember watching this back when I was a kid in the 70s.

At this point I suspect whatever vestiges of Fox's old home entertainment division is left over at Disney, is most likely in the role of a "caretaker" handling the remaining Fox contracts which have been signed + finalized already prior/during the merger.

What's unknown is whether Disney's home video division will keep on any of former Fox employees, once the remaining outstanding contracts are already done.

One could ask what Disney would do once all the remaining former Fox Home Entertainment division employees are let go.

As a guess, we can look at what Disney has been doing with their tv shows in recent years.

In terms of whether Disney will release complete series sets, similar in style to what Paramount, Universal, Fox, etc ... have been doing via giant 24+ discs cases, things don't look particularly optimistic at this point. The only Disney released complete series sets they have done over the years, are somewhat minimal: LOST, Desperate Housewives, Scrubs, and Home Improvement. (These complete series sets were done back in the early 2010's).

Since then, Disney has not released any other complete series sets. None were done for later shows like: Revenge, Brothers & Sisters, Once Upon A Time, Army Wives, Castle, Scandal, Private Practice, Body of Proof, etc ... where all seasons were already released on dvd.

For that matter, Disney's release schedule for tv on dvd has been rather sparse in recent years.

    2018
    Scandal - seasons 6+7
Once Upon A Time - season 7 (dvd and bluray)

    2017
    Designated Survivor - season 1
    Grey's Anatomy - season 13
    Nashville - season 4
Once Upon A Time - season 6 (dvd and bluray)

    2016
    Castle - season 8
    Scandal - season 5
    Quantico - season 1
    The Catch - season 1
    Grey's Anatomy - season 12
How To Get Away With Murder - season 2
Once Upon a Time - season 5 (dvd and bluray)

    2015
    black-ish - season 1 (amazon exclusive)
    Castle - season 7
    Scandal - season 4
    Nashville - season 3
    Grey's Anatomy - season 11
    Revenge - season 4
How To Get Away With Murder - season 1
Once Upon A Time - season 4 (dvd and bluray)

Many ABC/Disney produced shows were discontinued in america after a few seasons, such as:

    - Nashville (seasons 5 and 6 were never released)
    - Quantico (seasons 2 and 3 were never released)
    - Black-ish (season 1 was an amazon exclusive with no further releases)
    - The Catch (season 2 was never released)

    - Grey's Anatomy (discontinued after season 13)
    - How To Get Away With Murder (discontinued after season 2)
    - Designated Survivor (season 2 was released in canada by eone)

In the end, without any "insider" information about what's going on in the home video department at Disney, it is hard to say what will happen with future tv on dvd releases.

If Disney ends up letting go of all the former employees of the old Fox home entertainment division and things continue on business as usual, then we can probably look forward to seeing the end of any further dvd-mod releases by Fox. Though in its place, Disney will simply not release anything at all for tv on dvd. (So far there doesn't appear to be any upcoming tv on dvd releases for any ABC produced shows).

If Disney keeps around several former Fox home entertainment folks and give them the power to call the shots on tv on dvd releases, then the question is whether they will start releasing any complete series sets in those giant 24+ discs cases. For example, will they release complete series sets for older ABC/BuenaVista/Touchstone produced shows like: Alias, Golden Girls, Ugly Betty, Kyle XY, Felicity, Legends of the Seeker, etc .... ?

The Golden Girls already got a complete series set. That thing shaped like Sophia's purse was it. No new content, so no value to anyone who already bought the season sets individually.

Meanwhile, they never even tried Empty Nest.

Disney makes more money off of The Golden Girls from their images than they do with home video.

Good news on Gunsmoke. The date on High Chaparral has been changed to December.

With 20 seasons I'd say very doubtful. More likely a set of the 1st 6 seasons of 30 minutes episodes and then a set of the 5 b & w hour long seasons and then the a set of the final 9 color seasons. But we have at least 2 more years before they finish all 20 seasons so we won't know for sure until then.

Excellent news on Bonanza now I know exactly how long I need to stretch my season 14 viewing. Hopefully CBS follows up with Beverly Hillbillies Season 6 in November and Bonanza Season 10 in December.

I wonder how the contents of the Lassie set compare to the previous release from a decade or more ago?
