'Hunter' season 1 will be out on DVD in November, and suddenly my dad is easy to shop for this Christmas.

My sister will be getting 'Dawson's Creek' seasons 3 and 4, to go along with the seasons 1 and 2 I got her last Christmas.

My mom will be getting a season of 'Highlander', and a season of 'Star Trek :TNG'. I'll have to poke around her collection to see which seasons she bought last.

As for my wife... She hasn't finished her ~list~ yet. I don't know if I have enough paydays between now and Christmas. (To be fair, my ~list~ is longish, too.)

Are any of you picking up DVDs for your loved ones this year?

I know my sister would love the Rocky & Bullwinkle & Friends season sets. Problem is, she's in Michigan and I'm in California, and I'd like to see them, too! Maybe she'll get a slightly used copy of The Civil War - A Film by Ken Burns this year. [heh, heh]

The big TV-on-DVD sets I'm putting on my Christmas wish list are:

Star Trek: Voyager - Seasons 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Season 7
Star Trek: The Original Series - Season 3
Smallville - Season 3

Now it's all a matter of whether or not my wife, my mother, or my mother-in-law will get one of them for me. I kinda have a feeling that I'm getting a new suit from my mother-in-law, because the last time we were in Alabama for a visit, she was asking me my suit size. But I'll take a new TV-on-DVD set any day over it! :)

I tell you what Dave, if you can find the information for "them all" I will go to TVShowsOnDVD.com and vote for it to help you in your quest. I'll do it without ever having heard of "them all" before, how many seasons did it run for and what kind of a show was it? I promise not to vote for individual releases or best ofs for this show, but for complete season sets. Just doing my small part.

Just kidding David, couldn't resist when I saw that.

Ok, I probably could've but chose not to.

While your family may love all these shows, but do they really need the DVDs? My mom loves Law and Order, but she would never want the DVDs because it just wouldn't interest her. But who knows, maybe your family is different!

Dawson's Creek 4

Gilmore Girls 2
Gargoyles" Season 1
The O.C. 1
Tru Calling 1

Yeah, my Mom is a big "Twilight Zone" fan, so I thought Season One was a perfect present last Christmas. She hasn't opened it yet. :frowning: I've pointed out sets of "Little House on the Prairie" and "The Waltons" (two more of her faves) in the stores to gauge her interest. She has none.

She'll run home every day and watch them syndicated on basic cable, but she won't watch a DVD.

I'm always conflicted to put DVD sets on my list, as I'm a huge bargain hunter, and regularly check the HTF and various sites as resources. So I generally know how to get the most bang for the buck. Whereas my parents are likely to go to FYE at the mall and buy at full list price. All I can think about while unwrapping is had they just given me the cash, I could have got the set PLUS another additional set/DVD.

That's a good point... I think it really depends on the person. I usually give TV-on-DVD to those who have the collector mentality. :)

I'm getting my sister Simpsons: Season 5 and Smallville: Season 3 for Christmas. I bought her Season 1 of the Simpsons last Christmas and within a month, she had bought the other two sets!

I'm thinking of getting my mom Tour of Duty season 2 but it comes out a few days after Christmas. Hmm...
