I have a LG OLED65C1PUB TV connected to a Samsung HW-Q700A soundbar. The TV and soundbar are both programmed to turn on using my Xfinity remote control. In fact both devices turn on but for some reason the TV defaults back to the internal speakers which means I have to either go into the TV settings and change to the HDMI (ARC) or use the soundbar remote to turn it off and then back on. Is there some setting I can change or is this just something I have to deal with because I mixed brands?

Thank you in advance.

I was able to chat with LG support. He had me turn off the TV and unplug it, hold the on/off button on the TV for 10 seconds while it was unplugged, plug it in and turn it on. Worked for this time. Let’s see what tomorrow brings.

This morning when I turned on the TV it was back to square one…internal speakers. If anyone has any ideas I would be grateful.

It's probably a HDMI sync issue. I would try enabling CEC between the TV and soundbar, and then disable having your Xfinity remote control from turning on the soundbar. You can still have the remote turn on the TV. In theory, this should force the TV to turn on the soundbar once the TV is powered up. If that doesn't work you can try the reverse -- have the Xfinity remote power on only the soundbar.

I do the above with both soundbar setups we have, although I am using a Roku remote in each case instead of an Xfinity remote. It works with both -- a Roku soundbar + Samsung display, as well as a Polk Audio soundbar + Roku Ultra streaming box + Hisense display.
