Can anyone recommend a good turntable and cartridge for my system? I currently own an old auto BSR table about 20 years old. I am willing to spend about $1000.00 I was told that Sumiko is a good choice and was hoping that someone might suggest some other brands that way I can do a comparason.

An audiophile favorite brand is Rega -- I haven't followed their product line too closely of late, but their Planar 2 and Planar 3 'tables have been perennial favorites of the boys at Stereophile magazine, and their newer-generation table, the Planar 25, has been even more highly praised. All of them very affordable by audiophile standards, with the most expensive Planar 25 running approx. $1200 or so.

Thank You so much for your reply The Planar seems to be the favorite with a lot of audiophiles.I will give one a spin and see how it sounds.
