Hi, Seems the Vinyl Album is making a big resurgence well saw a bunch at the BB During Christmas. Well I went back there last night and had a few more Albums.

I am/Was a BIG fan of DVD-Audio/SACD but I have heard besides NOT being MultiChannel that a Good Turntable with a good Needle can rival DVD-Audio, Well I would like to Test this theory for Myself.

But as you can Tell I have NO Idea what makes or is a good Turntable or Cartridge..Can I get a Decent Turntable for like $300 USD?? what kind of Turntable will 300 bucks get me?? If I need to spend more Please let me know but I am NOT willing to spen more than $700USD..Cheaper the Better I am NOT needing High End but something decent ;)

I have a Sony STR-DE898 7.1 Reciever which has a Phono Input, I know I hear the ES's should of been my choice but this Reciever serves me well..

The system I have sounds fine to me especially the DVD-A/SACD music, I just wanted to hear a modern Turntable on some Virgin Vinyl which I can get again..I really liked they had DSOTM 30th Anniv. Edition on Vinyl and wanted to hear that for Myself vs the DVD-A/SACD Version..

I run a Technics SLBD22K turntable with an Audio Technica AT331LP Moving Magnet cart and I like my setup and it was under $300

Technics entry level turntables have been the low price point leader since the 70s. Highly recommended. They continue to have a couple models available such as the aforementioned SLBD22K.

My old turntable is a Technics, too, with an Audio Technica cartridge. It's too bad I never use it anymore. I have the unit connected to my audio-only setup in our basement recreation room, and CD's in a carousel player are much more convenient for listening down there.

Best Buy is actually carrying vinyl now? That really surprises me.

Here is a good place to find a turntable and cartridge, in about any price range:
Needle Doctor
In lefthand column, there's a link to turntables.

Don't forget to check the used market, also. There are a lot of very good used TT's available, many with a good quality cartridge already installed. Names to look for in your price range are Systemdek, Rega, Thorens, Pro-Ject/Music Hall (Pro-Ject & Music Hall are built in the same factory), etc.

For the necessary accessories I haven't found anyplace better than Turntable Basics.
